The PTRC is delighted to congratulate SaskPower on the launch of the world's first carbon capture facility on a coal-fired power plant.  The Boundary Dam Integrated Carbon Capture and Storage Project began feeding CO2 into a dedicated pipeline on October 1st, marking the inauguration of this industry-changing project.

The PTRC is equally pleased to be able to continue our cooperation with SaskPower through our Aquistore project, which is using the two deepest wells ever drilled in Saskatchewan to inject and measure/monitor CO2 from Boundary Dam into a deep saline formation 3.4 kilometres below the surface.  The Aquistore injection well will act as a storage buffer for Boundary Dam, and accept CO2 when Cenovus Energy - which is using the CO2 for enhanced oil recovery at the Weyburn oil field - is unable to accept delivery. PTRC continues to manage the research, measurement and monitoring program until 2017.
