The Petroleum Technology Research Centre, the province of Saskatchewan’s premiere research organization for the funding and support of innovative technologies for the oil and gas industry, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary with a reception and dinner on the night of September 12th, and a full day conference on September 13th.  Both events are occurring at Government House in Regina.

PTRC has been responsible for managing research programs that have, literally, changed the face of oil and gas worldwide.  The Weyburn-Midale CO2 Monitoring and Storage Project – a 15-year 80-million dollar research program that ran from 2000 to 2015 – helped establish standards worldwide for the deep geological storage of carbon dioxide.  Additional research programs in enhanced oil recovery helped Saskatchewan and Canada realize the twin goals of increased oil recovery alongside mitigating environmental impacts from production. Currently, the PTRC’s Aquistore project is managing the measurement, monitoring and verification of the CO2 being injected and stored from SaskPower’s Boundary Dam CO2 Capture Plant.

“We are very excited to be able to showcase our last twenty years of research at this event,” notes CEO Dan MacLean, “The conference will feature panels of world-leading experts discussing the future challenges facing oil and gas in Canada.”
Information on the 20th Anniversary may be attained by contacting PTRC at the address below.  Interviews with the PTRC’s CEO and select guests attending the conference may also be arranged ahead of the conference, or on the day of the event (September 13th).
